Summer Dance Camp 2010
The Ballet Guild of Ithaca brings more than 28 years of experience to training dancers in our annual Summer Day Camp for dancers from 8 to 18 years old. Summer camp dancers receive three to four classes a day in dance technique, including daily ballet class and daily pointe technique (where applicable), and modern and jazz class three days a week. In addition, campers take character dance, stretch, conditioning and composition class, in which students learn to create their own choreography. Advanced dancers also learn variations from the Classical Repertoire.
Our training provides a solid foundation in correct, classical ballet, combined with modern and jazz for added strength, versatility and freedom of movement.
Dancers do not need prior ballet experience to attend. Class placement will be made on the first day of camp. Dancers can choose from:
One 6-week session from June 28 to August 6, or
Two 3-week sessions from June 28 to July 16 or July 19 to August 6.
Camp hours are from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM Monday through Friday.
Along with our talented and distinguished faculty, we include guest instructors for workshops.
Daily activities include:
- dance technique classes including ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, stretch and character
- workshop covering music, mime, stagecraft, anatomy, nutrition and more
