The season closes with the sumptuous and elaborate Swan Lake. Staged by Artistic Director Cindy Reid, this ballet features the well known score by Tchaikovsky, intricate corps work, and the fiendishly challenging dual role of Odette/Odile.

Our season opening performance is the much beloved, full-length Cinderella! Cinderella is inherently a romantic tale, but humor abounds with comic relief provided by the Ugly Stepsisters, who are played en travestie (by men), a tradition perfected by the Royal Ballet of England.

The Nutcracker

Dec. 9, 10, 11, 2011, State Theatre, Ithaca, NY

Choreographed by Lavinia Reid, and set to the familiar Tchaikovsky score, Ithaca Ballet’s Nutcracker is a treat for the whole family and an Ithaca tradition. Children of all ages will delight in Clara's victory over the mice and her voyage to the Land of Sweets. The performance in Geneva and the Friday night performance in Ithaca feature a live orchestra -- the Finger Lakes Symphony Orchestra.
